British Columbia, Canada

More than 500 wildfires in B.C. have been classified as arson or suspicious over a 10-year period, and wildfire officials warn intentionally-lit fires can be particularly devastating under the provincial conditions. The B.C. Wildfire Service says 3.8 per cent of wildfires are considered 'incendiary' fires, which means fires that were started either intentionally or by negligence. The cause of several major B.C. wildfires, including the Bald Range fire, are under investigation.
