Tuberculosis remains the deadliest infectious disease globally and becomes increasingly difficult to treat with acquisition of drug resistance. This research defines mechanisms and genetic basis of drug resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, identifying encoded metabolic remodeling as an amplifier of resistance phenotypes. Findings enable improved screening and drug resistance prediction.
