Mosquito-borne diseases threaten more than half of the world's population and cause over 700,000 deaths each year. Although only a small proportion of mosquito species can transmit these diseases, human activities such as trade and travel facilitate the invasion of new regions by disease-vector mosquitoes. This study develops trait-based predictive models to identify which mosquito species have the highest invasion potential, enabling early warning and targeted surveillance in vulnerable regions.
