Smotrich: We must change the equation

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich on Sunday spoke of the need to change the equation vis-a-vis Israel's enemies, following a tense day on the northern border which saw a barrage of explosive drones launched from Lebanon towards northern Israel. Speaking at a ceremony marking 42 years since the Battle of the Beaufort, in which IDF soldiers captured the strategic Beaufort Ridge in southern Lebanon from the PLO, Smotrich said that Israel must exact a heavy price from Lebanon for every act of aggression. "We need to change the equation. For every explosive drone that is launched from Lebanon towards Israel, we need to bring down ten buildings in Beirut. That is the language that they understand," Smotrich declared. "I congratulate the soldiers of the IDF who 42 years ago conquered the Beaufort, and I salute the soldiers of the IDF who today are defending the northern border," he added. Earlier on Sunday, a barrage of explosive drones was launched from Lebanon towards northern Israel, setting off sirens in numerous communities. The IDF intercepted some of the drones, while others landed in open areas, causing brushfires.
