A tense situation unfolded in Manipur’s Ukhrul district as an angry mob set fire to the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) office, following the killing of four NSCN Eastern Flank cadres in Kamjong district. The victims were ambushed and shot dead by a rival group at Hongbei village on Saturday, sparking outrage and unrest in the area. The NSCN-IM denied involvement, stating no directive was issued from their headquarters. Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met with officials and CSOs to discuss the situation, emphasizing the need for peace. The incident has heightened tensions in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, which share borders with Nagaland and Myanmar.
