The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Sunday commended the Government of India for its swift, coordinated, and well-calibrated response to the disruptions arising from the West Asia crisis, which began around February 28, 2026. CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee outlined a 12-point agenda for industry resilience, including building strategic reserves for critical raw materials, diversifying supply chains to avoid concentrated maritime routes, and accelerating the energy transition to renewables and green hydrogen. The government has already taken steps such as reducing excise duty on petrol and diesel, restoring RoDTEP rates for exporters, and ensuring priority gas allocation to essential industries. CII emphasized that economic security, spanning energy resilience and technology capability, is now a central pillar of India's growth strategy.
