Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has warned that the newly established Social Health Authority (SHA) could collapse within the next six months if urgent interventions are not made. Speaking in Kiambu, Gachagua criticized the transition from the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) to SHA, describing it as a disaster that has left many Kenyans without access to critical healthcare services. He claimed that hospitals are still turning away patients due to unpaid claims and system glitches. This warning comes despite the government's recent announcement that it disbursed over Ksh 15 billion to health facilities in March to ensure smooth operations and clear outstanding debts inherited from the NHIF.
