Ukrainian combat medics are adapting to the dangers of drone warfare by developing new methods for tending to wounded soldiers. In areas where drones make helicopter evacuation impossible, units like the Azov Brigade are using drones to deliver warmed blood for field transfusions. Medics provide telemedical coaching via Starlink to soldiers on the ground. Additionally, senior medics are rewriting tactical medicine training, such as the MARCH protocol, to prioritize hypothermia and training non-medical soldiers in intraosseous access. These practices are being studied by foreign militaries and have parallels in humanitarian efforts like Zipline's drone medical deliveries in Africa.
