Western Australia, Australia

A clash of seasons is developing on Australia's weather map this week as a tropical cyclone tracks towards the WA west coast and a cold polar blast with thunderstorms forms over the east. The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) has named the system Tropical Cyclone Stan, which is expected to intensify to a Category 3 system before making landfall. Meanwhile, in the southeast, a cold front originating from the Southern Ocean is bringing snow to alpine regions in Tasmania and Victoria, with severe thunderstorm warnings issued for Melbourne and Sydney as the cold air meets lingering summer warmth.
