Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria

Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, on Wednesday, apologized to Nigerians for the persistent power outages experienced across the country in recent weeks. Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, the minister explained that the primary cause of the low power supply was the shortage of gas to power plants. He noted that the government is working closely with the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and gas suppliers to clear outstanding debts and ensure a steady supply of gas. Adelabu further stated that maintenance work on some power infrastructure contributed to the outages but assured citizens that electricity supply would return to normalcy within two weeks.
