The EU could lose “favorable” access to American gas if it amends a trade deal with Washington, the US envoy to the bloc has warned. Mark Gitenstein, the US ambassador to the EU, stated that the current flow of LNG is predicated on existing trade agreements and that any unilateral changes by the EU regarding subsidies or trade barriers could jeopardize the priority status European buyers currently enjoy. This comes amid tensions over the US Inflation Reduction Act and EU efforts to protect domestic industries.
