A colossal landslide in Greenland unleashed a 650-foot mega-tsunami, sending shockwaves across the globe for nine days. Seismographs detected unusual, repeating vibrations, baffling scientists until an international team linked them to the massive rock and ice collapse in Dickson Fjord. The event was triggered by the thinning of a glacier at the base of a 1,200-meter mountain peak, a direct consequence of climate change. The resulting 'seiche'—water sloshing back and forth in the narrow fjord—generated seismic waves that traveled from Greenland to Antarctica. This event marks the first time such a phenomenon has been recorded as a global seismic signal.
