The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has explained the reasons behind the current erratic power supply being experienced by customers across its franchise. In a statement, the management of the disco cited the shortage of gas to generating companies (GenCos) as a major factor leading to reduced power generation nationwide. Additionally, the company noted that the allocation it receives from the national grid, managed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has been unstable and insufficient to meet the demand of its customers in Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Kwara, and parts of Ekiti, Niger, and Kogi states. IBEDC expressed regret over the situation and assured customers that it is working with stakeholders in the electricity value chain to restore normalcy.
