Kharkiv, Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine

General Eirik Kristoffersen, Norway’s chief of defence, has warned of a potential Russian land grab in the far north to protect nuclear assets on the Kola peninsula. Meanwhile, Russian forces claim operational control of Zaliznychne in Zaporizhzhia. A Russian drone strike in Bogodukhiv, Kharkiv region, killed a father and three children, while another strike targeted industrial facilities in Russia's Volgograd region. President Volodymyr Zelensky is reportedly planning a spring election and a peace deal referendum for May 2026, amid pressure from the White House. Additionally, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has banned Ukrainian athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych from wearing a war-tribute helmet at the Winter Olympics, a decision he intends to defy. UK forces are set to double their presence in Norway in response to Arctic threats.
