Federal officials have confirmed a Measles Outbreak at a Texas immigration detention facility. On Sunday, officials with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed that two detainees held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center were found to have active measles infections. 'On January 31, 2026, the Texas Department of State Health Services confirmed active measles infections of two detainees at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center in Texas,' said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. 'ICE Health Services Corps immediately took steps to quarantine and control further spread and infection, ceasing all movement within the facility and quarantining all individuals suspected of making contact with the infected.' Medical staff is continuing to monitor the detainees’ conditions and will take appropriate and active steps to prevent further infection. All detainees are being provided with proper medical care. The South Texas Family Residential Center detention facility, which serves families with children who are awaiting deportation or other immigration court proceedings, reached international notoriety as the facility where a father and his 5-year-old son were recently held. On Sunday, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) held a prayer vigil and public action outside the facility calling for its closure and condemning inhumane conditions.
